The tragic event unfolded just after 10 p.m. when a Buick traveling south on Highway 146 lost control and veered into oncoming traffic, colliding with a northbound GMC Sierra near Millgate Road. The driver of the Buick was identified as 34-year-old Shemikia Brown. The impact of the collision claimed the lives of Shemika and three of her children: Kyah (13), Peyton (11), and Justice (2). Aubree, aged 6, another of Shemikia’s children, sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital.

The driver of the GMC Sierra emerged unharmed from the accident, according to troopers investigating the incident. However, the circumstances leading to Shemikia Brown losing control of the vehicle remain unknown, leaving investigators with the difficult task of unraveling the events that led to the tragic collision.
