Silas won titles with the Celtics (1973–74, 1975–76) and Sonics as well as being named to the All-Star team in 1971–72 and 1974–75. (1978-79).

He served as head coach of the Charlotte/New Orleans Hornets (1999–2003), Cavaliers (2003-05), and San Diego Clippers (1980–1983). (2010-12).
