His best-known film and television roles have mostly featured him looking clean shaven.
But Joshua Jackson looked like a totally different person on Sunday when he was seen stepping out of an Erewhon grocery store in Calabasas with a voluminous gray-speckled beard.
The 44-year-old Dawson's Creek star looked rugged yet casual in his low-key outfit as he picked up a large water jug from the upscale store.

Joshua was at ease with his aquamarine-colored T-shirt, which had a pair of his sunglasses dangling from the collar.
He contrasted the shirt with simple black short, and he completed the outfit with weather white shoes.

Seemingly missing from his errand run was his wife Jodie Turner-Smith, whom he began dating in 2018 and tied the knot with in 2019.
The couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Janie, in April of 2020.
It's not clear if Joshua's new beard is for an upcoming project, or just his personal preference.
His most recent TV work was in the Peacock true crime miniseries Dr. Death, which premiered a year ago.
He starred as the title character, Dr. Christopher Duntsch, who was accused of maiming several patients and killing two.
He eventually had his medical license revoked, and he was sentence to life in prison after he was convicted of maiming one of his patients.

Prior to that, Joshua appeared in the 2020 series Little Fires Everywhere with Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington.
His next major project will be a Paramount+ series remake of the 1987 psychological thriller Fatal Attraction, which starred Michael Douglas and Glenn Close.
This time around, he'll be playing the Douglas role, while Lizzy Caplan will be taking over for Close as a woman he has a brief affair with who begins to stalk and torment him and his family.
While speaking to Entertainment Weekly in June, Joshua claimed the new series would be 'an even more emotionally intense version of the story' that is updated to the present date.
'That allows us to update some of the sexual politics of the [movie], and because we have eight hours to tell the story, it also allows us to delve much more deeply into that Glenn Close character and... give a richer sense of how that woman became [who she is], and why she did the things that she did,' he explained. 'That movie is basically every man's worst nightmare come to life, and our show is a nightmare. It is a nightmare for men.'
