Grain Valley Shooting Today – After a shooting occurred on Monday in Grain Valley along Interstate 70, the Missouri Highway Patrol’s Troop A is conducting an investigation. According to Sgt. Andy Bell, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department received a number of 911 calls from motorists traveling westbound on Interstate 70 at 11:24 a.m.
The callers reported that a man had exited a vehicle and was brandishing a gun in the parking lot. The report was changed to a shots fired call as troopers on patrol and police officers from Grain Valley were making their way to the location. Upon arrival, it was discovered that the individual who had been shot was the one who had been brandishing the gun. According to MSHP, a different ‘citizen’ was the one who shot the man. At this moment, the authorities have not been able to identify either of them.
The victim of the shooting is a male who is currently in critical condition but stable. The shooter stayed at the area after the incident, where he was arrested and questioned by authorities. Bell asserts that he was cooperative throughout. There were no gunfire fired by law enforcement officers at any point. The inquiry into the incident is still ongoing.
