Rey Mysterio comments on his son’s heel character.
Dominik Mysterio, Rey’s son, became a prominent part of WWE TV in 2020, and he made his in-ring debut at SummerSlam, where he faced Seth Rollins. Rey and Dominik then formed a tag team, and they won the SmackDown Tag Team Championship at WWE WrestleMania Backlash 2021. Dominik turned on Rey at WWE Clash at the Castle 2022, where he joined The Judgment Day. The feud escalated for months until Rey finally agreed to face his son at WWE WrestleMania 39.
Speaking on IMPAULSIVE, which was recorded prior to WrestleMania, Rey discussed his on-screen feud with his son and called his character a dick.
“He’s a dick as a heel,” Rey said. “To see his character come out now and to have seen him grow up for the past 23 years, it’s like, ‘Where’s this person coming from?’ I’ve never seen that in him. So he is a dick as a heel.”
Rey also made it clear that he hopes the way Dominik has been behaving is just a phase.
“I[The feud] came from a bit of jealousy from my son, but he knows, man, I’ve given him everything, the lifestyle that I wish I would have had as a kid,” he said. “But at the end of the day, when you said it was just a phase that we went through, I’m hoping this is just a phase.”
At WWE WrestleMania 39, Rey beta his son in a high-profile singles match, but their feud subsequently continued. Dominik helped Finn Balor defeat Rey on the April 10 episode of WWE RAW.
